Why did CaixaBank move?
Written after the close on
CaixaBank rose in the last session, helped by its new AI and data unit. Over the last five trading days CaixaBank fell sharply, moving against a slightly higher S&P 500 and more than a clearly lower financial-sector ETF. The drop likely reflects the bank's own warning that mortgage demand will slow in 2027 because of high house prices and rising interest rates, and heavy withdrawals from its flagship money-market fund, which weighed on fund growth. The new AI and data directorate, a push into artificial intelligence and data to speed up its digital transformation, is the most likely reason for the last session's gain.
