Price target

A price target is an analyst’s estimate of what a share could be worth at a future date.

The estimate usually covers the next twelve months. It is based on assumptions about the company’s earnings, growth and valuation. Analysts can set different targets for the same share and revise them when their assumptions change. A target can move even when the current share price stays the same.
