Guidance

Guidance is a company management team’s outlook for its own future results.

It often gives an expected range for revenue or profit for a quarter or a year. Management may raise, lower or withdraw that outlook as conditions change. Guidance comes from the company, while analyst estimates come from people studying it from outside. The eventual results can differ from both sets of estimates.
