Why did Lockheed Martin move?
Written after the close on
Lockheed Martin fell despite fresh contract wins. Over the past five trading days Lockheed Martin fell clearly, more than a slightly weaker S&P 500 and a clearly weaker Industrials sector, with the softness concentrated in the latest session. The likely driver is not company news — the flow was positive, including a U.S. Army Precision Strike Missile award worth up to $1.2 billion announced in mid-September, over $1 billion in fresh defense deals, and a Navy milestone doubling MQ-25A Stingray control capacity — so the pullback looks sector- and sentiment-driven, with defense names broadly out of favor. A misrouted F-35 parts shipment that ended up in Chinese custody, now under congressional review, may have partly weighed on sentiment.
