Why did Alfa Laval move?

Written after the close on

Alfa Laval rose clearly as it folded Desmet into one company. Over the last five trading days Alfa Laval was roughly unchanged, while the OMX Stockholm 30 index of Stockholm's biggest shares fell slightly, so it held up better than the market. The clearest company news was that Alfa Laval is starting to fully integrate Desmet, the oils, fats and biofuel engineering business it bought in 2022, which likely supported the shares by promising cost and sales synergies, meaning combined savings and cross-selling; a broker downgrade earlier in the period, when a bank cut its buy recommendation because order growth was slowing, likely weighed on sentiment. Watch the third-quarter report in late October, when management will face questions on order growth and on how the Desmet integration is progressing.
