Ex-dividend date
The ex-dividend date is the first trading day when a share trades without the upcoming dividend entitlement.
A buyer on this day normally does not receive that dividend. All else equal, the share price adjusts down by roughly the dividend amount. Other market movements can hide that adjustment in the day's price change.
