Dividend yield

Dividend yield is the annual dividend per share divided by the share price.

A yearly dividend of 5 on a share priced at 100 gives a yield of 5 percent. The displayed figure may use past dividends or an estimate of future payments. A falling share price can raise the yield even when the dividend has not changed.
