Payout ratio
The payout ratio shows what share of earnings is paid as dividends.
A dividend of 3 per share and earnings of 6 give a payout ratio of 50 percent. Earnings and dividends need to refer to comparable periods. Losses and one-off earnings can make the ratio less useful.
