Exchange-traded fund

An ETF is a fund whose units trade on an exchange during the trading day.

Many ETFs follow an index, while others use different approaches. Their trading price can differ slightly from the value of the underlying holdings. Trading costs can include both the fund fee and the spread between buying and selling prices.
