Backtest
A backtest applies a defined set of rules to historical data to calculate past results.
The calculation depends on data, fees, execution assumptions and the chosen dates. Using information that was unavailable at the time can make the result look better than it should. Testing many settings on the same history can also favour patterns that happened by chance.
