Why did NCC stock rise on 7 October?

Written after the close on

NCC +7.14%

NCC jumped on the sale of its Industry arm. NCC rose clearly over the last five trading days while the Stockholm market drifted lower, and the very sharp gain came in the latest session, when it agreed to sell its Industry business — the stone and asphalt operations — to Heidelberg Materials and CRH for an enterprise value of 8.2 billion kronor, a deal that leaves a leaner company focused on construction and civil engineering and still needs competition-authority approval. A smaller order to convert a historic factory in Turku into rental housing, worth about 180 million kronor, added to the positive tone earlier in the week. The market's weakness over the same days makes the contrast starker, and the deal's completion once regulators clear it is the next thing to watch.
