Why did IDEX Biometrics rise on 6 October?

Written after the close on

IDEX Biometrics +15.47%

IDEX Biometrics jumped on its largest Access card order yet. Over the last five trading days IDEX Biometrics rose clearly, moving against a slightly weaker Oslo Børs benchmark, with the sharpest gain coming in the latest session. The likely driver is a purchase order worth more than USD 450,000 for complete IDEX Access Cards — physical cards that verify a fingerprint instead of a PIN or badge — placed by one of its channel partners, the biggest such order so far, for energy and retail customers in Europe and Asia-Pacific, with deliveries starting in the fourth quarter. That matters because selling whole cards rather than just the fingerprint sensors inside them brings meaningfully higher prices and margins, and the partner sees room for more orders as the rollout widens. The same day also brought third-quarter revenue of NOK 6.6 million, which likely kept some caution in the stock even as the order news lifted it.
