Why did Arm Holdings move?

Written after the close on

Arm Holdings fell slightly as AI news cut both ways. Over the past week Arm Holdings plc (ARM on Nasdaq) fell clearly, a bigger drop than the market's slight decline and out of step with a roughly flat technology sector. The likely driver was a sharp one-day slide after SoftBank arranged a large loan tied to its Arm stake, which investors read as possible future selling pressure; a rebound tied to Meta's Muse AI agent, which shifted some AI computing work toward the kind of processors Arm designs, only partly offset it. In the latest session the stock slipped again: Nvidia's new BlueField-4 security hardware uses an Arm-based processor, a genuine design win, but the money Arm earns from it was left undisclosed, so the news added little. Watch the early-November earnings report, where the market will look for hard figures on Arm's own chip orders and data-center royalties.
