Why did Aker BP stock rise on 9 October?
Written after the close on
Aker BP +2.20%
Aker BP rose sharply in the last session, most likely helped by its sweeping reorganisation and job cuts being read as a cost-saving move. Over the last five trading days the shares rose clearly, outpacing a roughly flat Oslo Børs benchmark and a slightly higher Brent crude oil price. The main driver was the company's announcement of a new executive management team effective at the start of 2027 and a plan to cut up to a thousand jobs, which investors likely took as a sign of lower costs and faster project delivery. A senior executive leaving for another Norwegian energy company was a secondary item and probably not the reason for the rise.
